You know, when you are getting old

When you get old, you might get a hit on your head and start to love the Finnish national sport: cross-country skiing. Now I have an announcement: I'm old. 

A Week ago I bought my own skies, ski poles and skiing shoes. Last time I owned any ski equipment is when I was about 16 years old. It was a time, when I had to take part for school skiing / sports lessons. It was also the time, when sport lessons killed any kind of enthusiasm for sports. Especially for skiing. 

I have to admit that the idea of skiing (and I'm not talking about downhill skiing, when I talk about skiing) has been in my mind for several years already. Finally the end of the last year in Lapland I decided to take the next time and here we go. I just returned from the 8 km skiing trip and I'm planning the new one already. This 8 km might sounds very short, but for person like me, who haven't skied really for years, it's a long trip. I am sure, I will feel it tomorrow. Now I feel just happiness.

I bought today a camera to replace the one, which was stolen. I'm so happy that I don't need to take pictures only with my phone; after all, it's not the real camera. G12 continues from there, where we left with my G9.

Forgotten films

We have some "funny cameras" as we call them. One Holga, some vintage TLR and SLR's plus some toys like Fuji Instax mini camera and a super sampler. 

It has happened that we've kind of forgot to bring to films to a photo shop and finally today we got the pictures back. There where many surprises over a year ago! Nice to spend a Monday evening looking at the pictures from the Summer 2010, our house warming party and friends' weddings!

It's a sauna evening

Saturday night has always been the real sauna evening. When I was a kid, it had it's own routines. Sauna is a place, where you should not talk too loud, you can't misbehave. Sauna is a place to wash yourself, also clear your mind. 

I love sauna and because at the moment we don't have one of our own, the chances to go to sauna are only few. Ether I enjoy sauna, when I'm visiting my home in Savo, or in the swimming pool (not counted) or one wonderful place in Kallio: Kotiharjun sauna is amazing old sauna less than kilometer away from where we live. It's the last public sauna in Helsinki, where they have a stove for wood. It's the place, where all the men are cooling off outside of the building, if you pass by it. 

This places is a real treasure in our city.

Ihan vähäksi aikaa pyrähdän pois Suomesta. Palaan pian. Nauti kesästä ja auringosta! Minä menen nauttimaan toisenlaisesta auringosta Lissaboniin hetkeksi. Suunnitelmissa on syödä hyvin, kävellä jalat kipeiksi, vähän festaroida ja kävellä seitsemälle kukkulalle.

Spring is here, believe it or not!

Kevät on tullut. Olen nauttinut jo muutaman jäätelön ulkosalla, pilvisessä säässä, mutta myös auringon helottaessa taivaalta. J tuli eilen kotiin Kiinasta ja toi ihania ja hassuja tuliaisia. Pari kiinalaista lehteä, teetä, vihreäteekeksejä ja -piiraita ja mahtavia tarinoita kiinalaisesta (työ-, ravintola-, juoma-) kulttuurista. 

Tänään on vietetty ehkä täydellistä sunnuntaita upeassa (salaisessa) brunssipaikassa, kävelty kaduilla, otettu sammakkoloikkia, hymyilty vain. Nyt pikainen piipahdus kotona: kaksi tuntia aikaa pakata, käydä suihkussa ja kiiruhtaa lentokentälle. Minun talviloma alkaa virallisesti huomenna eli tänään lähdetään Ranskaan. Hurraa! Siellä on jo yhtä lämmintä kuin Suomessa kesällä. Jännittää vain aika kovasti nämä vaalit, minkähänlaiseen Suomeen sitä palataan. Tai kannattaako tänne ylipäätään enää palata? Ranskaankaan ei hirveästi poliittisen ilmapiirin takia kannata jäädä. Ehkä haemme turvapaikkaa Belgiasta. Ei hallitusta, joten ei puolueitakaan. 

Ihanaa sunnuntain jatkoa! Muistathan äänestää!

Spring, I'm pretty sure it's now here! I can't wait that we can have a first piquenique in our "garden" or our "park".  I'm so happy!
