Sometimes there are not enough hours

My lovely goddaughter visited us this weekend. It was a time for special activity: a breakfast in the park, visiting Taste of Helsinki and admiring Helsinki Samba Carnival. She is such a fun girl, who's not afraid to try green shell mussels and scallops are her new favourite food. She actually ordered her mother to make some at home. I think the homemade lingonberry ice-cream was the winner after all.

We did lots of things on Saturday and the result was that in the evening we all fell asleep at the same time. Huh. 

Finnish Museum of Natural History got us today. It's a brilliant museum and I wonder, why I haven't been there before. Have to go back one day, very well done museum and our little guest enjoyed a lot as well. 

Weekend, finally!

This weekend couldn't come any later. Long working days have left signs on me and lately I've been sleeping pretty badly: thinking too much in the early morning hours. This weekend will be a bit different, I will get my dear goddaughter and her mother for the whole weekend here. I'm so excited! Tomorrow we will do something special and visit Taste of Helsinki.

We have walls

Piri-piri sauce is a pizza's best buddy

Piri-piri sauce, Tabasco or which ever spicy sauces are delicious with pizza. There is another Piri in these pictures; the napkins are designed by Markku Piri. 

It's almost a summer in my miniature city

This weekend was full of things to do, people to see and even a bit partying. Little by little the summer is coming to the town as well, though it's still pretty cold. 

The jewels in the two pictures are made by amazing Fine van Brooklin. The neckless is breathtaking, a little bit art deco and it makes a simple dress quickly festal. Fine van Brooklin has nowadays an Etsy boutique. 

A busy bee forgot the flowers

These last weeks have been more than busy and the same rhythm will continue. Work has taken all of my energy and I hope the results will be good - or at least satisfying. Even my flowers pass away. 

Today there will be a little bit of a birthday party, some beautiful jewels and maybe even a quick pop in the bar. I keep my camera rolling. Have a great weekend!

I have some sort of "Olavi-epoch" going on. About this video; I haven't decided, if I like it or not. But it's interesting.

Shake your boobs, Mrs.

Other pictures of my Friday evening are censored. We had my friend Anna's surprise hen party (ooh and she was surprised) and we went to a small and very welcoming dance studio to try burlesque dancing! 

It was wonderful, we all were amazingly pretty from the tip to toe. Some extra lashes, good make-up and flowers in the hair.. Our hosts from The Itty Bitty Tease Cabaret were the best. Burlesque is something, what every woman should try. It's so good for your self-esteem and making the tassels to go round, is so much fun! 

PS. The amount of attention what we got afterwards in the restaurant, was just perfect. ;) 

Now I'm complete

I bought today a camera to replace the one, which was stolen. I'm so happy that I don't need to take pictures only with my phone; after all, it's not the real camera. G12 continues from there, where we left with my G9.

The First Summer Weekend

Jäi iltapäiväteet Lontoossa nauttimatta, mutta onneksi Helsingistä löytyy ihanuuden huipentuma Salutorget. Lauantai-iltapäivä vierähti pehmeillä sohvilla kurkkuleipiä syöden. Nauttiikohan kuningatar Elisabeth jokaikinen päivä iltapäiväteet tykötarpeineen? 

Amazingly lovely restaurant Salutorget offers afternoon tea in their lovely bar. I do recommend this restaurant. 

Eating, while you are reading, makes you sick

Kiinan reissun aikana Pohjois-Korea oli aivan kulman takana. Ihan siinä likellä ja siellä tapahtui kovasti asioita juuri silloin helmikuussa. Kim Jong-il, "Isä", potkaisi tyhjää ja poika Kim Jong-un hyppäsi palvottavaksi sulavasti vatsamakkarat täristen. Kim Jong-unin velipuoli puolestaan sai lähtöpassit Macaosta, jossa oli pelannut kaikki rahansa ja loisi loistohotellissa. 

En halua puhua pohjoiskorealaisista myyteistä vaan todellisuudesta. Kirja, Suljettu maa, laulaa todellisuudesta tällaiselle naiville hyväuskoiselle samalla tahdilla kuin joku vetäisi avokämmenellä kolme tuntia putkeen ja pyytäisi vielä hymyilemään sen jälkeen. Kirja perustuu pohjoiskorealaisten haastatteluihin ja tapahtumat sijoittuvat pääasiassa 1990-luvulle ja 2000-luvun alkuun. 

Viime päivien uutiset kertovat, että tilanne on taas/edelleen hirvittävä. Ranskalaisessa mediassa on vihjailtu jälleen kannibalismista - ihmisillä on todellinen hätä ja nälkä. 

Pohjois-Korean historia on surullinen. Mitä, jos Neuvostoliitto ja Yhdysvallat eivät olisikaan päättäneet toisen maailman sodan jälkeen, että jakavat Korean 38. leveyspiirin kohdalta omiksi hallintoalueikseen? Kenties eräs sissipäällikkö ei olisi koskaan päätynyt maan johtajaksi - ja diktaattoriksi.

Summer lunch season has started

Today started the Summer lunch season: Subway lunch in the park. You bet that in the autumn, I can't eat anymore any Subway sandwiches.

Ancestors

My ancestros, forefathers were all called Aatami or Adam (or almost all of them). There are my grandfather's grandfather and my grandfather's father here. There they are looking at us, I wonder how it would be to meet them now. It would be amazing to listen their stories and to tell them, how life has changed since they left this place.

After a hot day, there will be a thunder (and no electricity)

First it was super sunny and almost hot (over + 20) and the next day it's stormy and thunder breaks (again) the electricity.

Night lights

When it get's all quiet, our yard is the nicest. Lights here and there, few lonely walkers and me sitting on the window sill. Those tiny moments sometimes save the day.

Today I was thinking, what if I had chose differently 10 years ago. What if?

Mess and Chaos

 

We have been living couple of last week using only our bedroom (kitchen is under pipe renovations' fixing and in the living room there is a window renovation going on). Most of our things and even some furnitures are in the bedroom among other things our TV, which we can't watch without a cable wire. 

There is not too much space to do anything.. dust and dirt would like to sleep in the same bed with us. I rather would leave them outside. This weekend we still probably need to be a bit camping, but next week: we will conquer it back! Jippii!

Our renovation is still not finished. There starts to be signs of bullying. Very unprofessional way of working here. But we are strong, don't worry.

Siivouspäivä Hauhontiellä

Lonely lamp

This lamps is a lonely fellow.

It's alone in the hall, because the shade of the paint on the wall is wrong (it's bluish grey, it should be pure white). It wont be alone forever; there's going to be some sort of funky coat rack one day and maybe even a small metal cabinet. Dreaming and planning.

Today was Sunday

Today was a lovely Sunday with the sun, walking, flea market, meeting my cousins and eating some frozen yogurt in Yobot. Tomorrow is a Vappu and my workday starts before five o'clock in the morning. I might be slightly tired in the afternoon. I hope your weekend was great.
